In today’s digital world, we are constantly surrounded by information - from news websites and social media to podcasts and messaging apps. But how can we tell what is true, what is misleading, and what is deliberately false? Developing media literacy has become an essential skill in navigating modern life and supporting our democratic values. This workshop offers an introduction to the challenges of evaluating information in the digital age. It combines perspectives from journalism, psychology, and technology. The session begins with a short introductory talk that explains how information is created, distributed, and consumed today. Participants will gain insights into how media landscapes have changed over time and why misinformation spreads so quickly online. In the second part of the workshop, we will explore key questions in a discussion, that may become lively or even controversial. The aim of the workshop is not only to improve English communication skills, but also to strengthen critical thinking and awareness in dealing with information.
